Harvey was captain for the day. Goalkeeping duties were shared with Jake, Samuel, Caleb and Zachary. The Sharks started off very brightly, Josh and Joseph were in on the action early and made good attacking runs. The pressure soon turned into goals, Josh on his left foot drilling the ball low past the keeper (1-0) and Joseph firing a long distant shot (2-0). In the 2nd quarter the Panthers had the first attack with a shot well saved by Samuel. From then on the quarter was all Sharks. Joseph continued his probing runs including a run down the left wing and a great cross for Zachary running in to slot home to score (3-0). Joseph was unlucky not to get the 4th when a goal was disallowed, as the ref had blown seconds earlier for an injured Panther player. When the Panthers did have possession Callum and Caleb held firm at the back. Quarter 3 the Sharks started brightly with Zachary, Jake and Samuel making good runs. On one attack the ball fell to Samuel on the edge of the box and with his left foot curled a beauty into the right corner (4-0). Credit to the Panthers, they were not disheartened and got more into the game. They started getting space in midfield and the Sharks failed to get men back behind the ball. The Panthers scored a well taken goal (4-1) and then with their spirits up scored a further two well taken goals to finish the quarter only 4-3 behind. Steve the coach gave the shell shocked Sharks a team talk about tracking back as well as giving them the confidence to get more goals. In the final quarter the shape was much better. Samuel, Joseph and Jake linked up well with both Jake and Joseph making the goalkeeper save. Harvey made good penetrating runs from the back and the very reliable Callum was getting in the tackles. Two good moves then put the Sharks back in control. The first move Jake crossed from the left to Joseph whose shot was parried by the keeper and Samuel tapped in the rebound (5-3). The 2nd move, with the ball appearing to be going out for a goal kick, Samuel raced over and kept the ball in play, he crossed to Joseph who despatched it confidently into the net (6-3). An own goal late on meant the game finished Sharks 7 Panthers 3. Great display from all the team as they built up a commanding lead and despite the wobble in the third quarter they showed good character and commitment to finish the game off.
