Match Detail - Won (3:1) U9 Sharks vs Preston Gawcott Tigers

GENERAL
Home or Away:  Home
Match Type:  Friendly
Match Status:  Completed
Joseph was captain for the day and the goalkeeping was shared between Zachary and Ciaran. Tim was our ref (dressed for summer – so pity it rained during the match). The Sharks were a little slow out of the box today and it was the Tigers who made the breakthrough when they were awarded a penalty for handball. They calmly despatched it to lead 1-0. The following quarter was much better for the Sharks. They started to attack more and Joseph led by example and scored a good solo goal to equalise (1-1). Joseph then scored his second after being alert when he picked up the ball from a Tigers goal kick and fired a shot into the net (2-1). The Sharks kept up the pressure and had a number of corners with Caleb delivering the ball in well. On one such occasion the ball came in and the goalkeeper couldn’t hold it and Joseph was on hand to score his hatrick (3-1). In the 3rd quarter the Sharks kept up the pressure. Ciaran made a good save to keep the score 3-1. Zachary made a couple of good runs down the left and Samuel did the same down the right wing, where he delivered a great pass onto a running Jake who narrowly missed. Jake was unlucky later when he had a freekick which hit the bar. The team battled on with Callum and Caleb clearing well from the back and Samuel making lots of runs in midfield not allowing the Tigers any space. 4th quarter was a tight affair. No further goals were scored but Jake chipped the goalkeeper only to see the ball go over the bar. Late on Joseph had a shot well saved by their keeper. In defence Harvey made a couple of good tackles. The score ended with a victory for the Sharks 3-1
